Privacy Policy

TipMap ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

Account information: If you create an account, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique Apple identifier and optionally your name.
Shift data: Tips, earnings, hours, areas, shift types, and notes you enter into the app.
Workplace data: Workplace names, areas, shift types, and pay rate settings you configure.
Profile information: Your role type (e.g. server, bartender) selected during onboarding, used to personalize your experience.
Settings and preferences: Your wage and overtime rates, notification and reminder preferences, optional monthly tip goal (target metric and amount), and optional tax estimator settings (selected region and any custom tax rate). These are stored alongside your account.
Usage data: Basic analytics about how the app is used, with no personally identifiable information.

If you use TipMap as a guest, no account information is collected. All data is stored locally on your device until you create or claim a full account.

How We Use Your Information

To provide, sync, and display your shift and earnings data.
To send optional shift reminders via local notifications on your device.
To notify you to log your tips when a calendar shift ends (processed locally on-device).
To manage your TipMap PRO subscription status.
To improve the app experience.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, hosted on AWS infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Only your signed-in account can access your data.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. Your shift and earnings data is never shared.

We use the following third-party services:

Supabase — authentication and data storage.
RevenueCat — subscription management for TipMap PRO. RevenueCat receives a non-identifiable app user ID to manage your subscription state. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Apple — if you use Sign in with Apple, Apple handles authentication. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

Calendar Access

TipMap may request access to your calendar to detect recently ended shifts and prompt you to log your tips. Calendar data is read locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Notifications

If you enable reminders or calendar notifications, TipMap schedules local notifications on your device. These are generated and displayed entirely on-device — no data is sent to external servers to deliver them.

Tax Estimates

If you use the tax estimator, calculations run entirely on your device using a static reference table of effective tax rates bundled with the app. Your selected region and any custom rate override are stored in your account, but neither your shift data nor your tax estimates are transmitted to any external tax service. The estimate is intended as a planning aid only and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified tax professional.

Subscriptions

TipMap PRO is an optional paid subscription that unlocks additional features. Subscription purchases are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. We do not store your payment information. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your iPhone's App Store settings.

Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. This action immediately and permanently removes all your data from our servers.

Children's Privacy

TipMap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
